WHAT'S YOUR TAKE ON GLOBAL WARMING?
I need your comments!!!

I'm writing an article on global warming and people's perceptions on the issue. I need your help!

I'm sure we've all heard about the issue...it's pretty hard to miss with all the heat it's generating (pun totally intended). Some people truly believe that the world is melting, and some people totally think everyone is making a big deal out of nothing. What do YOU think? Do you believe the world is heating up because of mankind's irresponsibility? Or do you believe all this talk of global warming is a bunch of hot air? Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

THANKS!

Happy New Year!

I had posted something on here last night and then promptly changed my mind this morning so I deleted it. If you read it yesterday and didn't see it today, you are not crazy. I really did delete the post.

So here is a more meaningful, heartfelt blog to start off the new year. Here is a list of predictions and resolutions - what's in store for me in 2008.

  1. Intensity and focus.
  2. Loneliness with God.
  3. Lots of Travel.
  4. Music, Acting and Pictures.
  5. Poverty and Enterprise.
  6. Weddings (take it easy - not mine).
  7. Babies (definitely not mine).
  8. Figuring out who my real friends are.
  9. Family.
  10. Great Change.
I'm also saying goodbye to Xanga now. It's a new year. A new era. My tenure in this great square of thoughts and ideas is now over. It's with great hope that I wish you all a Blessed 2008. May all of our lives be a great adventure this year.

God bless
Renee

This is random and I have insomnia.

Answer me this, and answer me honestly. What girl hasn't done this: you call your boyfriend after a long, hard day at school/work/the mall and he says, "I'm playing Madden/Halo/dress-up right now. Can I call you back later?" You're mad because you've been gone all afternoon studying/working/shopping and obviously since you haven't spoken in 3 days/hours/minutes, you would think he would miss you by now. But he'd rather play games. So you play games, too. Mind games.

"Fine," you say. And you hang up the phone without saying goodbye.

Meanwhile, your clueless boyfriend patters along happily, none-the-wiser that anything is wrong. Because let's be honest, 99% of the time, they have no idea when anything is wrong. Half the time they can't tell when their fly is open, let alone when their girlfriend is mad about something. So really, odds are kind of against them to begin with.

So then he calls you and you give him the "cold shoulder" treatment. He asks you how your day was, you say "Fine." He asks you how school/work/shopping was and you go, "Okay." He asks you if he looks fat in his jeans and you go, "Idk" (and yes, you don't actually say "I don't know", because you're too cold for full sentences. You've reduced him to msn acronyms.) and this definitely sets off red lights and sirens in his head. So he asks, "Are you okay?"

And here's the clincher. You say, "...............................yah, I'm fine. Why do you ask?"

And thus begins the end of many real and meaningful relationships.

I've realized that I do this and I want you all to know that I am going to do my best to stop. Because really, it's called being "passive-aggressive" and it's emotional abuse (it actually is). It's not fair, it's not honest, and it's just plain stupid. Even though sometimes it's nice being pampered by the other person while they're trying to get back in your good graces, really at the end of the day, it's like shopping with a credit card that you stole from an old lady at the bus stop. But sometimes even smart people do stupid things, and even well-meaning people just end up being, well, mean. So I've decided that right behind eating right, exercising, sleeping before 1 a.m. and not obsessing about my youTube channel, I am going to add "stop being passive-aggressive" to my list of 2008 resolutions.

Dear people who haven't subscribed to my youtube channel:

I uploaded a new video!
It's a sad video.
But you can watch it anyway!
Even though you haven't subscribed to my videos.
But it's okay because...it's almost Christmas.

Cheers,
Renee

NO SUCH THING

So...the more I learn about the music industry at school, the more I realize that the fantasy of "making it big" with a major record deal is really just that...fantasy.

Not that it's not possible. We see millions of dollars in songs and albums pumped through our economy every month, all driven by that one household name artist. I'm sure that Justin Timberlake will continue to make ladies swoon the world over without any comparison to anyone else, and for good reason. But the reality is that the world has become smaller. Thanks to this powerful tool called the Internet, newbies and small potatoes like me can actually make a living out of the music we make, if only we are brave and smart enough.

Thanks to my education, I think I'm getting smart enough. The only thing is to be brave enough. Because at the end of the day, indie or not, it's a dog-eat-dog world out there, full of pirates and wanna-be's and tremendous talent. But there is music enough for the world to make. And so I shall continue to make it.

This whole thing makes me think of a song...oddly enough by one of those artists signed by a major record label and idolized all over the world (including by me), John Mayer:

"I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as a real world
Just a lie, gotta rise above."

Peace.
